Spotkanie z Irene Tomaszewski

On Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM join us at Shelf Life Books (1302 4 Street SW) for a reading with Irene Tomaszewski as she reads from her latest book, Codename Zegota: Rescuing Jews in Occupied Poland, 1942-1945 – The Most Dangerous Conspiracy in Wartime Europe (Praeger, US 2010).

Irene Tomaszewski is a writer, editor and translator whose articles and reviews have appeared in newspapers (Globe and Mail, Ottawa Citizen, Toronto Star, and Montreal Gazette).Before Codename Zegota, Irene published another book called Inside a Gestapo Prison: the Letters of Krystyna Wituska (Detroit: Wayne State University Press, 2006). She was editor of cosmopolitanreview.com (2008-2017) and curriculum director of Poland in the Rockies, a Polish Studies program in Canmore, Alberta (2004-2010), and has worked on documentaries, including a screenplay based on the book about Zegota. She lives in Ottawa, and is currently working on her third book.

This event is presented by the Polish Canadian Association of Calgary and the Polish Combatants’ Association in Canada, Calgary branch #18 as part of celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence in 1918.
