Icons Solos Women draws upon Krzysztof Penderecki’s Sextet as a catalyst. The program not only features this iconic Polish work, but also draws our attention to one of the most successful living women composers in Poland: Hanna Kulenty. Alongside will be the more spare texture of a solo viola work by Canadian Scott Godin, a solo cello work by Hanna Kulenty, and Jocelyn Morlock‘s “L”. Also featured is Six thèmes solaires: Jupiter for horn and piano by Québec composer Denis Gougeon. This work is programmed as part of the Homage Series across Canada celebrating the work of Gougeon.
